Question about catalogs and tables — are they meant to be extended/subclassed to bespoke internal data systems/catalogs? Or is that not an intended use?

For sure. That’s a good question! Since the Catalog and Table classes are abstract and public, I encourage extending them. If you run into any issues or oddities, please reach out to me or open an issue with the catalogs label.
